Colleyville Public Library Expansion Project - Week 18

This week, finishing touches occurred daily on the Colleyville Public Library second floor expansion project, which moved the project a step away from the finish line. On both floors, workers of all trades focused on completing final items. Final lightning and plumbing fixtures were installed. Hardware was installed in all the doors and millwork, and appliances were installed in the kitchenette. By mid-week, the construction areas were ready for the final cleaning. For several days, workers were everywhere dusting, vacuuming, polishing and waxing, which gave the spaces a fresh, finished appearance. At the end of the week, Hidell Associates Architects issued a Certificate of Substantial Completion to Prime Construction, the General Contractor. Next week, a final walk-through will be completed, and punch list items will be addressed. Currently, work on the project is on target and is 99.9% completed. When the construction phase is completed, the shelving installation and moving phases will begin and are scheduled to be completed before the end of May. The official ribbon cutting and grand re-opening celebration in conjunction with the Summer Reading Program kickoff has been scheduled on Monday June 6, 2011, from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Plans for the event are well underway.
