Colleyville Public Library Expansion Project - Week 6

Exciting visual changes occurred daily on the Colleyville Public Library second floor expansion project this week. The focus of the work was on the second floor. At the beginning of the week, the support I-beam for the second floor meeting room moveable wall was lifted to the second level with a mechanical fork lift and brought into the Library through a window. Steel worker crews stationed outside and inside the Library worked simultaneously to accomplish the challenging feat. Once inside, the support I-beam was lifted again with mechanical lifts and welded into position. Drywall workers finished the wall installation framing phase and quickly moved on to the next phase of sheetrock installation. In a few days, the sheetrock application transformed the areas defined with metal studs into rooms. Sheetrock now defines the meeting, story time and craft rooms, meeting and story time room storage areas, the staff workroom, the kitchenette and the new stairwell. Installation of wall electrical boxes and conduit continued. Also, heating ventilation and air conditioning, and plumbing rough in work continued. Currently, work on the project is on target and is scheduled for completion the end of April 2011.
