Colleyville Public Library Expansion Project - Week 17

This week a multitude of dramatic visual changes occurred daily on the Colleyville Public Library second floor expansion project, which pushed the project inches from the finish line. The Library was swarming with a sea of workers, who transformed the spaces with an array of finishing touches. On the second floor, millwork installation was completed in the kitchenette, the craft room, the staff work area, the story time room, and in display areas. Painters completed staining millwork, and applied the final coats of paint. Flooring installation of carpet and tile was completed. Doors were hung and glass was installed in millwork windows.

On the first floor, painters completed painting in the new stairwell and teen areas. Workers installed cabinets and bench seating in the teen room and stained millwork. In the new coffee bar space, millwork cabinets were installed and stained. Flooring installation of carpet and tile was completed in the teen and new stairwell areas. Additionally, on the first floor, workers continued to prepare the area for the installation of the new automated check-in system in the drive-thru return area. By the end of this week, the new automated check-in system was installed and operational. Currently, work on the project is on target and will be 98% completed by the end of April 2011. When the construction phase is completed, the shelving installation and moving phases will begin and are scheduled to be completed by the end of May. The official ribbon cutting and grand re-opening celebration in conjunction with the Summer Reading Program kickoff has been scheduled for Monday, June 6, 2011, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
